Upcoming events

This week the Christmas Concert is taking place on Tuesday night. The students that are participating in the concert need to be at school by 6:15pm and they will need to assemble in their classroom with their teacher. The children should be wearing Christmas colours (red, green or white) and denim pants (short or long).

Once the children have been dropped off to the room parents are welcome to take a seat in the hall and wait for the beginning of the concert at 6:30pm. At the end of the concert, parents can collect their children from their classroom.

Next week

On Tuesday next week is a free dress day. However, this is the day that Year 4 will be moving furniture in preparation for the refurbishments to Block B. So please select the appropriate dress for this occasion.

Have a great week!

  • 1 item of food to share
  • 1 plastic plate
  • a healthy school lunch for the first break
This event is only taking place on Friday afternoon and students will still need lunch. They may also bring along a pillow to sit on while enjoying a relaxing film.

Homework Change!

Dear parents,

During a recent planning meeting, we have identified an opportunity for students to more effectively learn their spelling skills at home and at school. Research tells us that students that practice their spelling words within the context of a sentence are more likely to successfully spell the words in the future. Due to this reason, we will no longer be assessing the spelling progress of students through a formal spelling test, rather, we will be observing their spelling progress through purposeful writing within the classroom.

Students will be required to use their weekly focus words to create 5 sentences in total.
This week, students can choose from the following words:
putrid, evangelical, glowered, costermonger, berth, carbolic.

As of next term, there will be five set words that will need to be put into sentences. These sentences should reflect student understanding of the definition of each word.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me at dmitchell@bne.catholic.edu.au.

Have a great week!
